✚ Sea Mar · Website redesign

Find yourclinic,fast.

I redesigned the website for Sea Mar Community Health Centers — a Latino-focused nonprofit with 90+ clinics — making it mobile-friendly and putting clinic contact information one tap away, for patients who live on their phones.

02 The business & challenge

A phone call
for every question.

Sea Mar is a community-based organization specializing in service to Latinos — comprehensive health, human, housing, educational and cultural services across more than 90 clinics.

The problem: clinic information was hard to find on the website and through Google, so Sea Mar fielded a flood of calls for basic information — burning staff time that a small team didn’t have. And the dated site wasn’t mobile-friendly — a requirement in 2017, and essential for patients who primarily access the internet on a phone.

The goal

Mobile-first, clinic-first

Make the site mobile-friendly with clear clinic contact info — because research showed most calls were patients trying to reach their doctor or clinic, and most patients were on mobile.

03 Process

Two people,
ninety clinics.

An eight-month redesign supported by a two-person marketing team serving 90+ clinics. I interviewed direct-care staff and administrators, then rebuilt the information architecture with administration to reach the final structure.

Discovery · 01

The mission

The organization’s key priorities, as established in its mission, framed every decision.

Discovery · 02

Real users

Input from board members, clients and staff on what they actually needed to find.

Discovery · 03

Search intent

The keywords and phrases people actually use to locate the organization and its clinics.

“Find a Clinic,” front and center

The sketches put a clear “Find a Clinic” call to action on the home page — leading to a list of cities where Sea Mar has clinics, paired with a map of each location. Find the place, get the number, make the call — or skip the call entirely.

04 The design

One site,
every screen.

A responsive redesign that works as well on a phone in a waiting room as on a desktop — clear navigation, findable clinics, and content that finally reads on mobile.

05 Outcome

Fewer calls,
faster answers.

Staff preferred the new design because they could finally access it on the go. Since launch, Google Analytics reported the site’s bounce rate dropped 20% — visitors were finding what they needed instead of leaving right away.

For an organization serving 90+ clinics with a two-person marketing team, a site that answers its own questions is staff time given back.

06 Reflection & role

Many hats,
one patient in mind.

I wore many hats. On a two-person team, I owned UX research, information architecture, responsive UI, and prototyping — coordinating with administration to reshape the site’s structure and grounding every choice in the organization’s mission and real search behavior.

Design for who’s actually there. Sea Mar’s patients are mobile-first and often Spanish-speaking. A “Find a Clinic” button and a phone-friendly layout weren’t features — they were access.
